Jadon Sancho will spend the rest of the season on loan at Borussia Dortmund
after Manchester United and the Bundesliga club reached an agreement. A €4 million (£3.4 million) package encompassing the loan fee and a percentage of the winger's salary is included in the agreement for United.
Sancho is scheduled to go through a medical check before to officially joining Dortmund. Interestingly, Dortmund does not have the option to buy him out of the loan agreement. After a fruitful tenure at Dortmund from 2017 to 2021, Sancho was first acquired by United for £73 million. But things didn't work out at Old Trafford, and he hasn't played for more than four months.
Sancho refused to apologize, therefore accusing manager Erik ten Hag of being dishonest, which exacerbated their falling out. Ten Hag stated that Sancho's absence from the starting lineup in the 3-1 loss against Arsenal was due to the England international's inability to achieve training requirements. In reaction, Sancho resorted to social media to characterize the explanation as "completely untrue."
In a related transfer, Dortmund is bringing in left-back Ian Maatsen from Chelsea, another Premier League loan signing. The Dutchman has Chelsea's permission to extend his contract until 2027 with a release clause after completing his physical. In June, Dortmund will have first dibs on Maatsen's purchase.
